McCormick has taken the lead on heath care at the state level saving the state more than $25 million during the first year of the McCormick Health Care Reform Package.

Governor’s 2003-05 Budget:
- Help control and reduce health care costs by creating a pharmacy benefits purchasing pool for state and local governments
- Reduce
state employee health insurance costs by increasing the employee
contribution rate, implementing a more efficient health care purchasing
system and developing a prescription drug purchasing pool
Joint Committee on Finance 2003-05 Budget:
- Allow
local governments to unilaterally change to local health insurance plan
offered by the Department of Employee Trust Funds or a plan that is
substantially similar
